Nina Dobrev is all about challenging herself as an actor, and her next role is shaping up to be her “biggest departure yet.”

Dobrev is the newest cover star of Rogue magazine, posing for its print issue No. 7, which you can now purchase, and within its pages, the Bulgarian-Canadian actress opens up about her past career on The Vampire Diaries, and why she is so excited for fans to see her next project, Lucky Day.

The 28-year-old actress, who is set to play a woman named Chloe in the upcoming feature film, revealed what makes the character so different from the roles she’s played before.

“Of all the roles I’ve done so far it’s the biggest departure I’ve had to tackle, because I have to speak French and have an accent,” she told the mag, according to JustJaredJr.com.

Not only will Dobrev be speaking French — which fans haven’t seen her do in the past — but the film, which has yet to get a release date, is a thriller.

Since leaving TVD in 2015 (she returned for one episode in 2017), Dobrev has been focusing on movies, with a mix of features under her belt, including Vin Diesel’s Return of Xander Cage.

And while it seems all but certain that fans will be seeing more of the actress on the big screen soon, in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar a few months back, the actress opened up about why she hasn’t appeared in more feature films.

“I don’t want to play a teenager anymore,” she explained to the publication. “I want to play adult roles and be challenged and work with great filmmakers and tell incredible stories, and that has meant being really picky.”

Although Dobrev has been “picky” with her film roles, we’ve got a feeling her choices will pay off!
