Shawn Mendes has teamed up with a few fellow singers in the past, and now he’s opening up about whether or not he has any plans to collaborate with any artists in the near future.
While in Brazil, Mendes sat down with Foquinha for her online show, and he spilled a few details about his current tour, his thoughts on Brazil (he loves it), and most importantly who he’d love to collaborate with next.
After being asked if he had any plans for upcoming collaborations, especially because he has so many famous friends, Mendes teased that there’s nothing on the books, but he’s definitely not opposed to making something happen.
“Um, I hope so. We’ll see. I think collaborations are something that has to happen naturally, and you can’t force them, so it depends,” Mendes told Brazil’s Foquinha last week. “Whoever I end up writing with is kind of what will happen.”
As for who he would pick to work with if given the chance, the “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” singer took a few seconds before giving his answer.
“That’s a very hard question,” he said. “I think I would probably choose John Mayer.”
Mendes and Mayer, together? That would be amazing! We could definitely see these two artists teaming up to do a dreamy love song, or ballad, complete with live guitar playing.
With news that Mendes is in fact working on a third album, maybe this is the chance for the Canadian singer to reach out to Mayer and make it happen.
Who would you like to see Mendes collaborate with?
