Over the years Chicago Fire has had numerous couples that fans have loved, but the one that continues to pull at our heartstrings and have us tuning in week after week is Dawsey, aka Gabriela Dawson and Matthew Casey.
Now that we’re in season 6 of Chicago Fire fans are wanting to know what’s going to happen next, and luckily, the drama’s co-creator Derek Haas recently sat down with TVLine and teased what you can expect this season — sadly a baby is not in the cards, at least not yet.
When asked if there was baby talk coming up soon, Haas told TVLine, “Not yet,” but he did say that there would be “some milestones coming up” for the duo. One big event is that Casey’s (played by Jesse Spencer) new promotion to Captain will be something that switches his dynamic in the workplace, and with his wife Dawson (played by Monica Raymund), but in a good way.
“It’s something that [Dawson] wants for him,” Haas explained about Casey’s promotion this season. “She thinks that him getting promoted and getting up to chief means a lot more behind-the-desk [work] and standing outside of incidents instead of running into burning buildings.”
Although the couple won’t be having a baby right away, if Casey adjusts to life as captain and then chief someday, perhaps they will have more time to start a family. That would however cut down on his fire fighting, which seems like it could cause some turmoil as well.
What do you want to see happen to Dawsey this season? Are you on board with a title change for Casey? Sound off in the comments below Chicago Fire fans!
