Rosewood is getting another series with the Pretty Little Liars spinoff, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, but will Shay Mitchell be making an appearance? The actress isn’t exactly saying no, but she’s not sure about reprising her PLL role just yet.
After news broke that Pretty Little Liars was getting a spinoff, which will star Sasha Pieterse (as Alison DiLaurentis) and Janel Parrish (as Mona Vanderwaal), fans have been wanting to know if Mitchell, who played Emily Fields on the Freeform series would be coming back, or at least making a cameo. As of now, Mitchell isn’t signed onto the project, but she couldn’t be happier for her two costars.
“I was super excited for everybody when I first heard about it — I think it’s amazing. It’s going to be so much fun for Sasha and Janel. And why not? The fans love it,” Mitchell told TVLine about the new spinoff of her beloved series. “Some of the fans may have grown up and moved on, but other fans want more. They want to find out what happens to certain characters. This show will really get into the aftermath of what happened in Rosewood.”
The last time we saw Mitchell’s character she was raising twins with Alison, so it would make sense if she were to stop by Rosewood for another few episodes. Although Mitchell has “spoken here and there” with the show’s creator, I. Marlene King, she isn’t heading back to the PLL world just yet.
“It’s just difficult with all of our schedules right now,” Mitchell concluded. “At the end of the day, regardless of whether I’m on it or not, I will 100-percent support the show and be a fan of it myself. But we’re all just doing so many different things right now, so it’s hard to commit to something like that.”
Fingers crossed Emily makes her way to Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists… even if it’s for one episode!
