It’s been a long time since Zayn Malik fans have seen the artist perform, but when his second album drops sometime in 2018, he’s definitely heading on tour.
During a recent interview with Billboard, the “Dusk Till Dawn” singer revealed that although nothing is on the books officially when it comes to his first solo tour, he is planning to hit the road to promote his upcoming sophomore album.
Malik admitted that one of the reasons he didn’t go on the road after Mind of Mine debuted in 2016 was because of the style of songs that were on his record. “Like, there were a lot of upbeat dance [songs on the album], and I don’t dance, so it would have required a lot of extra dancers and stuff going on, and I don’t necessarily want to do that,” Malik told Billboard.
As for what you can expect when he launches his first tour, well the British singer wants it to reflect who he is.
“For a long time I’ve struggled with, ‘Where is Zayn as a performer?’ I don’t want [my show] to be too eccentric or out there, because I’m not that kind of personality,” Malik explained. “I’m quite a reserved person, and I feel like [the vibe of that session] sort of fits me and what I want to do onstage.”
While we don’t have a release date for Malik’s next album just yet, and no tour dates have been set, knowing that the artist is planning to do live shows is really big news — with or without dance numbers to accompany him.
