From designing to writing, and of course acting — in both movies and on TV, Zendaya really can do it all.
The former Shake It Up! cast member has had an amazing career as a Disney Channel star, but when she was looking to breakout into film acting, she decided that jumping at the first thing that came her way wasn’t the way to go. Instead, Zendaya decided to be patient, and during a new interview with Fashion magazine she admitted why she actually passed on a few roles along the way.
“When I wanted to break into movies, there were tons of projects that came my way that probably would have been good because it was a good paycheck,” Zendaya told Fashion magazine in regards to staying committed to her freethinking and authentic self when choosing roles. “But because I wasn’t known in this area, I was able to start fresh and really make the decisions that I wanted to make and do the things that I wanted to do without anybody’s opinions but my own.”
Being patient and not doing roles that didn’t feel right or fit with what she believed in has payed off so far for the 21-year-old actress, who is the cover girl for Fashion magazine’s winter issue.
She made her big screen debut in 2017’s The Amazing Spider-Man and is starring alongside Zac Efron and Hugh Jackman in the upcoming film, The Greatest Showman, which hits theaters next month. Plus, the actress has two voice roles lined up for 2018 as well.
See Zendaya in The Greatest Showman when it hits theaters on December 20, 2017.
