Gilmore Girls fans, listen up — there could be another revival in the future, but it wouldn’t look the same.
After going back to Stars Hollow in 2016 with Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, fans have wanted more, and according to creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino that might not be such an unrealistic dream.
During an interview this week with Michael Ausiello for his TVLine Podcast, the masterminds behind Gilmore Girls and its revival revealed that they aren’t ruling out more from Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel’s iconic characters.
“If we all come to terms, meaning like, we sit down with the girls, and we have an idea and they’re game and they’re available and it feels right to all of us we can absolutely get out to do it,” Sherman-Palladino told TVLine when talking about the possibility of more Gilmore Girls down the road.
Although the duo has their hands full with their new Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which drops this week, working with Amazon has given them “The Gilmore Clause,” which means if they want to do more with Gilmore Girls they have a production company to back them.
That being said, if Gilmore Girls gets a second revival, it’s going to look different, as the format would most likely not be four mini movies like it was for A Year in the Life.
“It’s going to be a different format too, it’s going to take some new shape. We don’t know where we would pick it up, but we’re just sort of open to doing it,” he continued. “It’s a great group of people. It’s a great cast, and weirdly this show has just sort of gotten bigger over the years.”
The fan base has continued to grow, so fingers crossed everyone signs on for one more go… even if it’s not right away!
