The night is finally here! Bruno Mars’ TV special airs tonight, and it’s going to be unique, and fitting of its location… at least if Mars has anything to say about it.
For months, fans have been waiting to see the “That’s What I Like” singer’s first TV special, Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo, and luckily the wait is over, because tonight (Nov. 29) on CBS the magic is happening. As for what you can expect from the singer and his band, well, it won’t be your average tapped concert.
“We didn’t want this to be just a television show where the Hooligans and I sing three songs and go to commercial then sing three more songs and go to another commercial,” Mars told Billboard about the special.
Instead, Mars wanted to create an experience that would match all of the amazing shows and performers that have taken the stage at the Apollo Theater. That means musical performances, behind-the-scenes moments, and taking it to the streets of Harlem.
“The band and I wanted to create a vibe that translates what we felt at the Apollo Theater. As soon as we walked in there, we said this is the only place to do this special,” he explained. “Hopefully, the audience will feel that vibe at home.”
Fans will be in for a treat when they tune into Mars’ TV special, because yes, he will be singing some of his greatest hits, but he will also be rocking out in a local restaurant kitchen, and find himself atop the Apollo marquee.
Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo airs on November 29, 2017 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
