The “Meaning of Life” singer is Redbook’s December/January cover girl, and in addition to opening up about her latest record, Meaning of Life, which dropped in October, Clarkson got real about her goal as a coach on the NBC series.
“I’ve already warned both Adam [Levine] and Blake [Shelton] that winning is not my biggest concern,” Clarkson told Redbook about joining The Voice come season 14. “I want to find someone who has incredible talent and really work with that person.
The “Love So Soft” singer’s goal might not be to win, but it is to guide artists throughout the series and beyond to great success, which is basically like winning, but on a grander scale. “It would be amazing to look back in a decade and see this artist have a huge, successful career that I was a part of,” she concluded.
Even if Clarkson’s team doesn’t win next season of The Voice, her presence will be a fun change of pace with the coaches. She will join Levine, Shelton and Alicia Keys in the big red chairs next year, and she’s ready to go.
This season, the former American Idol winner got a real taste of what it’s like to coach by being the guest mentor during the Knockout rounds, and from the looks of it, she’s ready to take on her own team when season 14 premieres sometime in 2018.
