Niall Horan has had a great year, releasing his first solo album and headlining his own tour.

Earlier this month, Horan caught up with Access Hollywood backstage at iHeart Radio’s Jingle Ball event and revealed that when it comes down to it, he really wanted to create a good album, and one that was successful on the charts… but mostly a good album.

“I was just proud of the album that I made and I knew how much time I spent on it, and just really wanted people to attach themselves to it,” Horan told Access Hollywood about his goal when creating Flicker. “In turn, chart numbers say that so, ya, I guess a bit of both.”

With Flicker going number one and his single “Slow Hands” charting at number one, it seems like his fans and the critics have “attached” to the record, and that’s music to the Irish crooner’s ears. In fact, Horan still can’t comprehend all of the positive feedback he’s had this year.

“It’s been unbelievable. There’s no way that when I went to write this album that I thought it was going to turn out like this. The album going number one, ‘Slow Hands’ going number one, it’s been great fun,” he said.

It definitely has been a fun year if you’re a Horan fan, and with his Flicker World Tour beginning in 2018, next year is going to be just as exciting.
