Fans have been waiting for Charli XCX to release her next solo record, but she has another type of album in mind right now… another mixtape.
In early December, Charli teased her next record, but it’s not the solo one that fans were expecting. Instead she’s getting ready to unveil her next mixtape and it’s going to be full of a lot of big names.
“Imagine if I did another mixtape,” Charli XCX tweeted before tagging a slew of artists from Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo, MØ, CupcaKKe, and Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek, to Mykki Blanco, ALMA, Brooke Candy, Pabllo Vittar, Tommy Cash, Jay Park, Kim Petras, Dorian Electra, and PC Music’s A. G. Cook.
“That would be pretty cool right..?? 💕✨,” she added, and that it would be!
The good news is that this teaser tweet wasn’t just to mess with our minds and make fans dream about what songs with these artists and Charli XCX would sound like. It was just an initial hint of what was definitely going to happen.
“💜 POP 2 – THE MIXTAPE – OUT DECEMBER 15TH. PRE ORDER NOW 💜,” she tweeted last week confirming that these awesome artists have in fact teamed up with the “Boys” singer for a massive mixtape album.
Pop 2 will be the British singer’s second mixtape following her 2017 mixtape. While it’s not a complete solo record, or an EP like 2016’s Vroom Vroom, it is new music and it’s going to be great.
If you can’t make it until the Friday release, don’t worry because there are already two tracks, “I Got It,” and “Unlock It” that have already been released.
Pop 2 drops on Friday, December 15, 2017, but you can pre-order it here.
