It’s been nine months since Shawn Mendes ventured out on his third headlining tour, and the journey is officially over.

After heading out for the Illuminate World Tour back in April 2017, the “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” singer has just wrapped up the epic tour — on December 18 — and it’s definitely bittersweet.

“Can’t believe the Illuminate world tour if officially over,” Mendes tweeted on Tuesday (Dec. 19) although with a video of him performing on stage and then walking off for the last time this tour (and year). “Thank you so much for the most incredible year of my life. I love you guys… X.”

Mendes kicked off his Illuminate World Tour in Glasgow, Scotland on April 27, 2017 and nearly nine months later, he finished his concert series in Tokyo, Japan on Monday. He’s been all over the world, but despite being on the road for almost an entire year, he’s already wanting to get back to work.

Instead of touring in 2018, the Canadian singer has opened up about focusing all his time on his next album. Album 3 is going to be “amazing” according to Mendes, and even though he’s been traveling a lot he admitted he already has “like 25 songs” ready for consideration on the next record.

While the next album isn’t close to being complete, with Mendes putting all of his time and effort into working on it next year, we know it’ll be as amazing as promised. Plus, if he releases a few singles throughout the year, it’ll make up for his lack of touring… maybe.
