Nicole Kidman continues to reign as on of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, and it’s due in part to her most recent role as Celeste Wright on Big Little Lies, which has a female-centric cast. Now working with women and helping them succeed is Kidman’s priority as a force in Hollywood, and we salute her.
During an interview with British Vogue’s Lynn Hirschberg for their February 2018 issue, focused on the “Best Performances” of 2017 — the cover of which features her alongside Margot Robbie — Kidman got real about the opportunities that are, or rather, aren’t available to women in Hollywood.
“I still feel like I’m the kid at drama school hoping to get a role,” Kidman told British Vogue about the process of getting a job. “I always feel like I’m so fortunate and lucky to have the job.”
Now that Kidman has landed so many amazing roles — she was just nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series for Big Little Lies — she is taking on a different kind of role… aiding other women land their dream jobs.
“Part of my job now is to give back and help create opportunities for the next generation – particularly with female directors, because it is so imbalanced,” she explained.
Although Kidman will be busy now that Big Little Lies has been given a second season, and award season is upon us (which will undoubtedly land her on numerous nominee lists), the Australian actress is ready to propel other females’ careers, which makes it her best role yet!
