Now that it’s 2018, there are a lot of TV shows that we can’t wait to watch, but what about movies?

This year there are so many great films set to hit theaters that we’re already counting down the days until we can go see them. Sure, we loved a lot of movies from 2017 like Beauty and the Beast, Pitch Perfect 3 and Wonder Woman, but it’s a new year, and for now we’re shifting our focus to the movies that have yet to be released.

While there are way more than nine movies hitting theaters this year, we’ve narrowed it down to the top movies that are both highly-anticipated and have some pretty stand-out casts. So, what are you waiting for? Get your calendars out now and let the movie countdown begin!

Black Panther

What’s not to love about a Marvel movie? This February (February 16th to be exact) the Marvel universe will introduce their fans to yet another iconic hero… T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman) or the Black Panther! You’ll see T’Challa return to his home after the death of his father and strive to take over as the rightful King of Wakanda. The film also stars Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett and more amazing actors.

A Wrinkle in Time

A Wrinkle in Time is full of girl power and given the current climate in Hollywood (and beyond), the timing could not be more perfect. The Disney film, based on the classic 1962 sci-fi novel by Madeleine L’Engle, follows a young girl named Meg (played by Storm Reid), her brother and her friend as they are sent to space by three very interesting beings to find her scientist father. The film features some very big names: The three guiding beings are Mrs. Whatsit (played by Reese Witherspoon), Mrs. Who (played by Mindy Kaling), and Mrs. Which (played by Oprah Winfrey), and they’re undoubtedly going to be amazing together. And now that we know how much time they spent together every day in the makeup trailer (thanks to Reese’s endearing Golden Globes introduction of her co-star as the Cecil B. DeMille award recipient) we know their chemistry will be even better than we anticipated! Check it out on March 9, 2018.

Deadpool 2

After so much success with the first Deadpool film, fans have been impatiently waiting to see what Ryan Reynolds and the rest of the cast is going to do in the sequel. What we do know is that it will be outrageous, full of action, and have Josh Brolin as a new character, Cable (or Nathan Summers). It hits theaters on June 1st, so get ready for a wild summer.

Ocean’s 8

There have been a lot of Ocean’s films over the years, but the reason we are excited for this one is the fact that it’s an all-female cast! Ocean’s 8 will focus on Debbie Ocean (played by Sandra Bullock) and her crew of fierce females like Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna, as they attempt to pull of a heist of their own… at the Met Gala. It opens on June 8th, so mark your calendars and make sure nobody steals your seat!

Incredibles 2

It’s been almost 15 years since we’ve seen the Parr family fighting crime, and that’s way longer than we’d like. Luckily, Incredibles 2 hits theaters this summer, on June 15th, and it’ll have the same superhero star power that we loved from the first film, hopefully with a lot more Jack Jack!

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

10 years later and we’re still in love with Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) and Donna (Meryl Streep) and their gorgeous home of Greece. While the first Mamma Mia! film was all about Sophie getting married (and then not), Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is going to focus on Donna’s past (the younger version will be played by Lily James) as Sophie tries to figure out how to navigate being pregnant. Find out what happens on July 20th, and bring your dancing shoes.

A Star is Born

A Star is Born will be Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut (he is also starring in the film), and will bring Lady Gaga to the big screen, so you know this will be good. The film is the third remake of the 1937 film of the same name, and revolves around a young singer and actress (Gaga) as she seeks guidance from an alcoholic movie star (Cooper) as his career spirals out of control. You can see it in theaters on October 5th.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

There are a lot of amazing films within the X-Men universe, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix is definitely shaping up to be one of the best ones yet. This installment will focus on Jean Grey (played by Sophie Turner) as she battles her possible corruptive powers—and at the same time must be prepared to fight her friends, if it comes down to it. It hits theaters on November 2nd.

Marry Poppins Returns

Marry Poppins Returns doesn’t hit theaters until December 25th, but it’s going to be worth the wait, trust us. Although this isn’t a remake of the original Marry Poppins, it will strive for the same magical and musical appeal that we’re looking forward to seeing. Plus, it stars Emily Blunt, and features music created by Lin-Manuel Miranda… need we say more?
