When Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life ended in 2016, fans of the show and its revival were left with a lot of unanswered questions. The biggest being, will there be more episodes? According to Matt Czuchry, not right now.

While promoting his new series The Resident, Czuchry, who played Logan Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls and the Netflix revival, talked to TV Guide about the next steps for Gilmore Girls and revealed that timing is everything.

“I think what was so great about the [2016 Netflix revival] was that it had been nine years. The timing felt right for that,” Czuchry told TV Guide at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour. “Are there more to be told? I think fans want them, but will the timing be the same? Will the stories be right? That is yet to be determined.”

The fact that so many actors came back for the 2016 revival and the fact that the show is so beloved, it wouldn’t surprise us if there were eventually more episodes of Gilmore Girls. The timing, however, like Czuchry said, really is everything.

Until there are more stories from Stars Hollow (fingers crossed), the actor hopes that his fans from the series follow him over to his new Fox series. “I’ve had so many fans from Gilmore Girls follow me throughout my career and hopefully they’ll watch [The Resident] and enjoy this show as well,” he said.

It might not be Logan on screen in Stars Hollow with Rory, but watching Czuchry on screen as a doctor no less, is definitely something we’re tuning in for.

The Resident premieres on January 21, 2018 at 10 p.m. on Fox.
