Anytime Justin Timberlake announces a tour, or major performance, fans hold out hope that this could be the event that reunites NSYNC – at least for one night – and even though we know they’re broken up, we still dream of the ’90s boy band getting back together.
Seeing as the Super Bowl is pretty much the biggest stage of all, when Timberlake revealed that he would be the halftime show for the 2018 Super Bowl, there was only one thing that could make it better… NSYNC joining him on stage. Sadly, Joey Fatone has shut down those rumors, and said “bye, bye, bye” to a boy band reunion.
“I’m here [at dinner] right now – if I was doing something, I’d be at rehearsals right now, so obviously there’s your proof: nothing,” Fatone told TMZ in regards to a possible NSYNC reunion. “There’s nothing wrong with that! He’s doing his thing!”
Even though Fatone, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass won’t be joining Timberlake on stage at Super Bowl LII, the group did perform back in 2001 at the Super Bowl, so we guess it’s okay to leave this show to just the “Filthy” singer.
That being said, we’re all very interested to see what Timberlake brings to the stage this time around. After all, it will be his third Super Bowl appearance. The first was with NSYNC, and they were joined by Aerosmith, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Nelly. The second was when Timberlake performed with Janet Jackson and had that wardrobe malfunction.
No matter what happens on stage this time around, Timberlake is bound to put on one heck of a show, especially since it’ll take place only a few days after his newest record, Man of the Woods, drops – so you know they’ll be fresh songs and amazing dance moves.
