‘Riverdale’ Stars Reveal Whether They’re More Betty Or Veronica

Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes might perfectly embody Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge on The CW’s Riverdale, but in reality they are very different from the characters they play on screen.

Sure, Reinhart looks like the girl next door, aka Betty, and Mendes carries herself with poise and elegance a la Veronica, but when you ask these two stars which of the Riverdale characters they’re really like, their answers might surprise you.

“[Veronica] was the first role that was an actual fit for me, because my look isn’t fully Latina, but it’s not white either,” Mendes told CBS’ Watch! Magazine in their January/February issue about her auditioning process.

Despite the fact that Mendes is a perfect fit for Veronica, she admits that her real-life persona is much closer to Betty, because “I’m just more bubbly. I’m much sweeter” than Veronica. “I’m not as quippy and strong and fierce as Veronica,” she added.

Reinhart added to Mendes’ remarks noting that their characters have more layers than you might realize. “Our characters are three-dimensional and have layers… Betty’s not just the good girl and Veronica’s not just the sassy one,” she told the magazine.

When it comes to which character she most closely relates to, however, Reinhart didn’t choose Betty or Veronica. “We’re both a lot more laid-back than all of the characters. I feel like that’s what makes me most like Jughead,” Reinhart explained in the issue, which hits newsstands on January 23, 2018.

Jughead Jones? Okay, we can kind of see that.

Now that we know which character Mendes and Reinhart relate to most, we want to hear from you. Which character do you relate to most? Are you a Betty or a Veronica… or even a Jughead?! Sound off in the comments below.

Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
