Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon are two of the many amazing actresses that have been chosen to be on the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue, and they’re not holding back about what they’ve done to remain relevant and make a splash in the entertainment industry.

During a talk with Vanity Fair as a part of their cover shoot – which also features Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Michael B. Jordan, Claire Foy and more – the two ladies answered the ever-interesting question of “what has forged you to create your own authentic path throughout your career?” Their answers are full of strength and power, and we we’re listening.

“OK, so here’s the authenticity moment. Laughing at myself as a young TV anchor woman, I had this moment where I realized I can be a better me than I can be a pretend Barbara Walters – and that’s what changed my life,” Winfrey told Vanity Fair via Entertainment Tonight. “From that moment forward, I felt more like talking like myself and being like myself.”

Of course Winfrey had to add in one more drop of wisdom saying, “Your ability to show the truth of you is also somebody else’s truth and that when people can see that, that is what they’re relating to.”

When it comes to the Big Little Lies star, she attributes her success to always wanting more and challenging herself.

“Whenever I accomplished something, instead of feeling good about it, I was always pushing myself to think, ‘Well, what now? What’s next?’ I’m just really obsessed with learning and pushing myself to be knowledgeable about things I don’t know,” she explained.

Leave it to Winfrey and Witherspoon to leave us with a ton of work inspiration to follow in with only a few simple statements. We’re not worthy!
