Country music fans already know that Brett Eldredge is embarking on his own headlining tour this April, and when he does he’s ready to try new things and really bring it. Until then, he’s opening for one of the biggest acts in country: Blake Shelton.

Shelton previously announced Eldredge as one of the opening acts for his Country Music Freaks Tour, which kicks off today (Feb. 15), and according to “The Long Way” singer being an opening act for so long has been great practice for his first solo tour.

“I’ve been the direct support slot for a while so I feel pretty comfortable there. That’s pretty much the list of the nicest people in country music right there. And so, they’re all very willing to show you what they do,” Eldredge recently told Pop Culture. “I feel really comfortable in that [opening] spot and now I feel comfortable going to my headlining thing. I’m excited to kind of try a lot of things I never tried, and so that’s really exciting.”

While the “Lose My Mind” singer is ready to take the stage as the main event this year, he vowed that for his fans he will be bringing his same country charm no matter what slot he is in the performance.

“I want to take the most of my time and deliver the most me set that I possibly can. I moved to Nashville singing with just a guitar on at stage and songwriter places. I love those moments. So I still get those moments in the shows,” he explained. “And then I want to expand. I still want to do that in the direct support … I don’t want to be a lagging section of the show, ever.”

Catch Eldredge on the Country Music Freaks Tour beginning February 15, 2018, and his solo venture, The Long Way Tour beginning April 5, 2018. More details can be found here.
