Zayn Malik has been dropping hints that new music is on its way for a few weeks now, but even he wasn’t planning on releasing his latest track so soon.
In case you missed it, the “Pillow Talk” singer has been sharing snippets of tracks on Instagram, including videos and clips of him playing the piano over the past month. All of these teasers have had many fans believing that Malik’s sophomore record might be coming soon. While he has yet to announce a follow-up record to 2016’s Mind of Mine, the former One Direction singer has officially released his next single, but it wasn’t exactly on purpose.
“This was not a song I intended to put out,” Malik shared on Twitter, explaining that since the track — a remix with August Alsinahad, titled “Don’t Matter” — had been leaked, he decided to give it away for free.
Despite being forced to release the song, Malik did already have the single artwork ready, which he later tweeted out to his fans.
The British singer has yet to release a solo single since his debut record, but with all the social media teases that type of song could be right around the corner.
